Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union (often shortened to HVFCU) is a credit union in the New York counties of Dutchess, Orange, Ulster and Putnam. As of March 2017, the institution had 287,000+ members and approximately 800 employees. It is one of the largest credit unions in the United States.

HVFCU offers a wide variety of services, including checking accounts, savings accounts, vehicle loans, home equity loans and lines of credit, mortgages, financial planning through HVFCU Financial Services, property & casualty insurance through HVFCU Insurance Agency, business loans and accounts, and VISA debit, credit, and gift cards.

HVFCU offers its members access to over 82,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide in the Allpoint, CO-OP, Presto!, and SUM ATM Networks.

From 2010-2015, it was named one of the Best Companies to Work For in New York.

In October 1963, a group of IBM employees had a vision—to create a financial cooperative for IBM employees and their families in Poughkeepsie and Fishkill, New York. Their product line in the beginning was modest, consisting of basic savings and consumer loans. By the end of their first year, the credit union had 14 member accounts and $172 in assets.

The name of the credit union changed a few times over the years, and in 1994, the name changed to the present-day name of Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union.

At the beginning of 2003, membership requirements were changed to allow those who live, work, worship, volunteer, or attend school in Dutchess, Orange, or Ulster counties to join the credit union.[1]

On July 1, 2010, HVFCU merged with Putnam Federal Credit Union, in Putnam County, New York. As a result of the merger, individuals who live, work, worship, volunteer, or attend school in Putnam County, are also eligible to become members of HVFCU.

HVFCU has branches in the following locations: Arlington, Beacon, Brewster, Carmel, Fishkill, Hopewell Junction, Highland, Hyde Park, Kingston, LaGrange, Middletown, Montgomery, New Windsor, Newburgh, Pleasant Valley, Poughkeepsie, and Wappingers Falls (Hollowbrook).[2]
