Hygiea can related to one of two concepts:

  • The asteroid Hygiea
  • An alternate spelling for Hygieia, one of two Greek goddesses of medicine/health - specifically "preventive" medicine, as distinguished from her sister Panacea, the goddess of "treatment" medicine. The two complementary aspects, and their other three sisters, are considered to be the daughters of Asklepios, the god of medicine.
