Hyllus Maris (born 25 December 1933 in Echuca - died 4 August 1986 in Kew, Victoria) was an Aboriginal Australian activist, poet and educator.[1] Maris lived with her parents on the Cummeragunja Reserve until they walked off in protest about its management.[2] A house at Melbourne Girls' College in Richmond, Victoria is named in her honour.[3]
