iMore
iMore is a website founded in 2007 by Dieter Bohn and Mike Overbo that specializes in news and other information related to Apple. It has a forum and a shop, and is considered an Apple Community. As of July 2014, according to Quantcast, iMore receives almost 8 million unique visitors and over 14 million page views globally per month.[1] Traffic often increases during Apple events and device announcements.
History
iMore began as Phonedifferent. It was created by Dieter Bohn and Mike Overbo on April 25, 2007 as the iPhone-centric property for Mobile Nations, then known as Smartphone Experts. It included a blog for news, reviews, and how-tos, a forum for help and discussion, a podcast hosted by Bohn and Overbo, and a store for accessories.
On May 11, 2008, Smartphone Experts bought theiPhoneblog.com and merged Phonedifferent into it. Following Overbo’s departure, Rene Ritchie took over as managing editor on August 25, 2008.[2]
Coinciding with the announcement of the iPad, theiPhoneblog.com rebranded to TiPb on February 5, 2010, and then to iMore on January 5, 2012.
The podcast was also rebranded, to the iMore show. It is currently hosted by Rene Ritchie, and Serenity Caldwell (previously included Peter Cohen and Ally Kazmucha), and has posted over 410 episodes as of July 2014.[3]
On episode 460 of The iMore show published June 5, 2015 it was announced that Ally Kazmucha has moved on from iMore.
