iShares Russell 1000 Index Fund is an exchange-traded fund of US stocks.

The ticker is IWB.

The fund tracks the Russell 1000 index.

IWB was commenced on May 15, 2000; there are also the more popular IShares Russell 1000 Value Index (NYSEIWD) (about $7 bn AUM as of early 2009) and IShares Russell 1000 Growth Index (NYSEIWF) (about $9 bn AUM as of early 2009), and the IShares Russell 2000 Index (NYSEIWM) ETF, all of which were commenced on May 22, 2000.

Competition

The two funds based on subindexes, iShares Russell 1000 Growth (NYSE ArcaIWF) and iShares Russell 1000 Value (NYSE ArcaIWD), are bigger than the iShares Russell 1000 fund. iShares Russell 1000 competes with funds based on the S&P 500, such as the SPDR S&P 500.[1][2]
