Elements shown are the transmembrane voltages produced by concentration gradients in potassium (green) and sodium (blue), The voltage-dependent ion channels that cross the membrane (variable resistors;K=green, Na=blue), the non-voltage-dependent K channel (black), and the membrane capacitance.
