"Insane" is a song by American singer-songwriter Black Gryph0n and his brother Baasik. Over time, the song became a sleeper hit, and received considerable renewed attention when Hazbin Hotel premiered in 2024.

Background

[edit]

Black Gryph0n provided the singing voice of Alastor in the pilot Hazbin Hotel. He has since reprised the role in several fan-made music videos for original songs, including "Insane".[2] In 2021, he wrote "Insane" with permission from series creator Vivienne Medrano. He and Baasik wrote the song in eight hours.[3]

Content

[edit]

The song expresses Alastor's psychopathic personality. In the song, Alastor murders an old friend who reunites with him in Hell and declares that he plans to rule Hell.[4]
