"It Hit Me Like a Hammer" is a song recorded by Huey Lewis and the News and released as the second single from their album, Hard at Play, in 1991. The song was co-written by band leader Huey Lewis and the songwriter/producer, Robert John "Mutt" Lange.[1] Lange had previously written the band's breakthrough hit, "Do You Believe in Love", nearly 10 years earlier.

The single release contained a remix of the song with a saxophone solo that did not appear on the album.
