Palestine Cellular Communications Company, doing business as Jawwal (Arabic: جوال), is the first mobile network operator in Palestine,[1] employing almost 887 people.[2] Jawwal was established in 1999, and is owned by Paltel.[3] As the leading mobile operator, Jawwal has succeeded in the Palestinian market by reaching more than 2.45 million subscribers as of 2012.[4]

Since its launch, Jawwal is represented in its market share of 81.5% of the Palestinian market.[5] In 2004, it also obtained the "Environmental Quality Management" certificate ISO14001.[6] In addition, Jawwal offers international roaming services with more than 391 operators in over 160 countries and has coverage up to 98% of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.[7]

History

Network

Jawwal has always been struggling with the limited frequency allocated to Jawwal by the Israeli authorities, where at present only 2G services are available, and network speeds like 3G and 4G LTE are not available.[8]
