Jayathirtha (born May 8, 1977) is an Indian theater activist, social worker and filmmaker. From 1993–1994, he trained at Abhinaya Taranga, obtaining a degree in theater. He worked as a director and playwright, as well as acting in as many as 4,200 street plays.[citation needed]

Theater activities

Jayathirtha has conducted more than 150 theater training programs, focusing on issues including life skills.[citation needed] He penned and directed 65 street plays and ten stage plays from 1996 to 2007.[citation needed] Jayathirtha directed Hathim Thi, an experiment with 500 actors, at the Al-ameen school building.

Radio

He directed 450 episodes of Chukka China – Chinnara Chukka, an educational radio drama for children. This is currently the most viewed radio drama in Africa.[citation needed]

Literary works

He scripted six stage plays and 69 street plays/shows, only on social issues.[citation needed]

He penned 15 short stories.

He authored Hebbala – (an experimental stage play) using proverbs and folktale stories.

Workshops

He conducted workshops for dumb and deaf children, HIV/AIDS patients, teachers, councillors and psychologists.[citation needed]
