Born in Antratsit, Voroshilovgrad Oblast, USSR (now in Ukraine) on July 20, 1941. Married with two children. Selected as a cosmonaut May 5, 1967. Retired on September 7, 1994.
Flew as Commander on Soyuz 32, Soyuz T-9 and Soyuz TM-6.
Has spent 333 days 7 hours 47 minutes in space.
