Jeremy Strong (born 18 November 1949) is an English writer credited with over 100 children's books.[1][2]
Life and career
His first three years were pretty uneventful but then he fell out of a first floor window and landed on his head, broke his right arm and spent a week in hospital. That was his first real memory. After an eventful childhood, mostly involving accidents of one sort or another and gathering a collection of stitches from hospitals en route, [3] Strong left school in 1968 and studied English at York University. He held various vacation jobs, including at a bakery where he put the jam in doughnuts, an experience that put him off eating doughnuts for the next thirty years. After university he became a junior school teacher[4] and also began his writing career. He left teaching in 1991 and has been writing full-time ever since. His humourous writing often makes use of his childhood and primary teaching experiences. He speaks at schools and festivals worldwide. His story There's A Viking In My Bed was made into a BBC children's TV series. A number of his books have won awards.[5] He lives near Bath, UK.
