Landscape

The district includes a number of natural reserves. The best known of these is the Český ráj ("Bohemian Paradise") national park, which includes the Prachovské skály ("Prachov Peaks") range of sandstone mountains; the Kost Castle can also be visited here. About 68.5 % of the area is agricultural land; 21.5 % is forest.

There are around eight natural reserve areas, and further pond areas. The district's small towns, such as Prachov or Sobotka, are often visited by tourists.
