James T. Leavins (born July 28, 1960) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 41 games in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers.

On July 29, 1986, the Detroit Red Wings traded Leavins to the New York Rangers (along with Kelly Kisio, Lane Lambert, and a 5th round draft choice), in exchange for goalie Glen Hanlon and two future draft picks.
