James "Jimmy" B. Holmes (born 8 December 1954 in Hamilton) is a former Scottish footballer.
He began his career at junior club Muirkirk, before moving into the senior game with Partick Thistle before becoming a legend at Greenock Morton.He won 3 first division winners medals with Morton,1977–78,1983–84 and 1986-87.In May 1987,after being voted the Scottish PFA 1st division footballer of the year,he captained the Scottish semi-professionals in an end of season tournament against Holland,England & Italy.[1] He finished off his career with spells at Falkirk,[2] Alloa Athletic and Arbroath. After retiring as a player, he became the assistant manager at his final club, Arbroath.
Family
His son Graeme Holmes, has followed in his footsteps and currently plays for Alloa.[3]
