The John R. Commons House is located in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.[1]

History

The house was built for John R. Commons, a prominent member of the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his wife, Ella. They named the house "Hocheera", the Ho-Chunk word for 'welcome.'[2]
