Josef (Ioji/Joschi/Jo) Kappl (born 15 January 1950) is a Romanian-German bass player.

Born in Petrila, Romania, he was one of the bass players for Romanian rock band Phoenix. He graduated from the Music Conservatory in Timişoara. He also played the violin and the recorder with Phoenix (see Transsylvania Phoenix).

He is also a former member of the German rock bands Lake and Verstärkung.

In November 2013, a symphonic rock opera composed by him, Meșterul Manole, had its premiere in Timișoara.[1]
