Jun Takahashi (高橋 盾, Takahashi Jun, born September 21, 1969, in Kiryū, Gunma) is a Japanese fashion designer for the brand Undercover. He is considered one of streetwear's founding fathers. He is influenced by Punk, ripped T-shirts and patched leather jackets.

Early life and education

He attended Gunma Kiryu Nishi High School. In 1988 he enrolled in Fashion Education at Bunka Fashion College Design department- where he got his nickname Jonio. At one point he was the vocal lead for the cover band "Tokyo Sex Pistols" where his role model was Vivienne Westwood.

Career

In 1990 he launched Undercover [1] with another student, Ichinose Kobo. In 1993 he Launched Nowhere, a retail venture in Ura-Harajuku with friend Nigo of BAPE. In 1994-1995 he participated in Tokyo Fashion Week. In 1995 Nowhere Ltd. (company store) opened in Harajuku. In 2002/2003 he participated in his first Paris Fashion Week.

Personal life

He has a son and is married to Morishita Riko, with whom he worked for the Uniqlo collaboration.
