Keelaiyur is a village in the Kilvelur taluk of Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located between Nagappattinam and Thiruthuraipoondi. A land locked village and agriculture is the main occupation and Paddy is the lone crop which is being cultivated. It is located 20 km from the District Capital Nagapattinam and 350 km away from the state capital Chennai.

Demographics

As per the 2001 census, Keelaiyur had a total population of 3139 with 1577 males and 1562 females.[1]

Education

As on 2015, keelaiyur is having a Govt Higher Sec School and a Govt elementary school. Both the school has developed lot of Engineers, Doctors, Teaching Professionals and many on since from the inceptions. There is also a Polytechnic and a Private owned Engg college in Keelaiyur. And the Anna University Campus is located in Thirukkuvalai.

Keelaiyur is well connected with the nearby towns by roadsways. ECR from Nagappatinam to Thoothukudi is crossing through this beautiful village. TNSTC is operating more Bus services from Nagappattinam and Vailankanni to most part of the State and also to the neighbouring states likes Kerela and Puducherri. And the most predominant route is between Pattukkotai and Nagappattinam with the Bus no 428 Series. Apart from govt buses, also there are many private owned buses in same route and connecting the nearby Cities Thiruchirappalli and Thanjavur.
