Minor cleanups, hope the first sentence is not too ambiguous.). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Kid Icarus: Uprising, known in Japan as Shin Hikari Shinwa: Parutena no Kagami (新・光神話 パルテナの鏡, lit. "New Light Myth: Palthena's Mirror"),[1][2][3] is an upcoming launch title for the Nintendo 3DS video game system, developed by Project Sora and published by Nintendo.[4] It is the third game in the Kid Icarus series and the first since 1991's Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, a nineteen year wait referenced in the game's announcement trailer shown at E3 2010, in which Pit appeared with a cheery "Sorry to keep you waiting".[4]

Story

The plot of Kid Icarus: Uprising follows the protagonist Pit as he does battle with the forces of the antagonist, Medusa, utilizing the ability of flight granted by Palutena.[5]

Gameplay

The E3 video of the game showed a mixture of both air and ground combat, featuring Pit battling monsters, including Cerberus, in his quest to stop Medusa,[6] who now resembles the actual Gorgon rather than the giant Eyeball representation in earlier entries in the series.[7] Nintendo describe the game as “a fast-paced and action-packed blend of aerial and ground-based shooting built on elegantly intuitive and streamlined play control. Boasting game play that is easy to pick up but incredibly deep, the game is sure to satisfy novice gamers as well as fans who have been clamoring for a new installment in the franchise.”[5]

Development

Developed by Nintendo's Project Sora development studio[8], and built specifically for the Nintendo 3DS,[5] the game retains both Pit and Palutena's new looks as introduced in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.[9]
