Knots in My Yo-Yo String
Knots in My Yo-Yo String (1998) is an autobiography written by Jerry Spinelli. The book describes the life of Spinelli from the time he was a kid to the time he was a senior. Mr. Spinelli was born in Norristown, PA and has the fondest memories of his childhood where he was raised.
Norristown is a town in Montgomery County of Pennsylvania, located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The city is named for Isaac Norris, a member of the colonial Pennsylvania legislature who ordered the casting of the Liberty Bell. Nearby, the famous Schuylkill River flows on the east side of the town. On the other side of the town there is the Valley Forge National Historical Park. Norristown is the county seat of Montgomery County. It is in a rich agricultural region, as well as it has several manufacturing facilities, such as cigars, wire, screws, boilers, bolts, silos, tanks, iron, hosiery, knitting machines, underwear, shirts, lumber and milling machinery, paper boxes, rugs, carpets, etc. In the 19th century, the population of Norristown was only 400 people. However, as of 2004, the population has drastically increased to 30,873.
Norristown has a rich musical tradition as it was the home to several famous jazz musicians. Bass virtuoso Jaco Pastorius and keyboard legend Jimmy Smith were both born in Norristown. Today the city's economy is powered by Montgomery County government jobs, the legal profession, and health care.
