Kumarpal Balabhai Desai (Gujarati: કુમારપાળ બાલાભાઈ દેસાઈ born 30 August 1942) is an author, critic,columnist and translator[2] from Indian state of Gujarat.[3] He has written over 100 books. He is Director of Gujarat University's School of Languages and Dean of Faculty of Arts. He is the Managing Trustee for the Institute of Jainology, India and Director of Gujarati Vishwakosh.[2] He was awarded Padma Shri by Government of India in 2004.[4] He has also been conferred with many other awards including Gujarat Ratna award. Desai regularly delivers lectures on Jainism in other countries.
