World War II

Generalleutnant Kurt Renner commanded the 211th Infantry Division and the 174th Reserve Division of the German Wehrmacht during World War II. He was promoted to generalleutnant on 1 July 1940. He was killed whilst in command of the 174th Reserve Division on 26 August 1943 by Polish underground forces becoming the highest ranking German officer killed by the Polish Underground during the war.[1]
