New developments

In 2000, LCHSN built an identical pool to LCHS's, only in the North colors of black and gold. A new library was built at LCHSN, which added a new face to the entrance of the school. The new library replaced an old, cramped, window-less library, which was converted into four classrooms. Middle School East was built in 2000 to handle the growing population of the county. MSE is a National Blue Ribbon School. In the summer of 2006, both high schools received new fields and tracks for various athletics. Both fields are now of synthetic turf with vibrant writing on the field. Actual grass would be more costly to maintain. LCHSN built new home bleachers and a ticket booth. Atwood Elementary was completely rebuilt. After the 2005–2006 boys basketball season was complete, the gymnasium at L'Anse Creuse High School was demolished, to make way for a new state-of-the-art gymnasium, which was completed in 2007 along with a new student commons area. A new music and band wing was built at LCHSN in 2008. South River Elementary School was torn down and rebuilt in 2007. Green Elementary School has been completely rebuilt and the old building was demolished. The new building opened for the start of the 2009–2010 school year. LCHSN had renovations made to its front which expanded the cafeteria and kitchen, and add a student commons area.

Changes for the 2007-2008 school year at L'Anse Creuse High School and High School North

The school district has made the decision to close both high school campuses beginning in the 2007-2008 school year. The campuses are closed not only for lunch but for the entire school day. This decision was met with much criticism from students and parents, though the district decided to do so anyway.

Transportation

The L'Anse Creuse Transportation system serves the district, with its home-base adjacent to the John Armstrong Performing Arts Center.

First Robotics

L'Anse Creuse has one FIRST Robotics team, Team 453 (Rockem Sockem Robotics). The team was run by the Programming and PC Servicing teacher, Nick Paterni. During the 2014 FRC season (Aerial Assist), Team 453 won the Centerline District event. They also continued on to compete in the Michigan FRC Championship.

Seven-Hour Day

Both L'Anse Creuse High School and L'Anse Creuse High School North started a seven-hour day schedule beginning the 2010-2011 school year. This seven-hour day will shorten each class period, but allow students to be able to take one additional class each year. Seven hour days ran from the 2010-2011 to 2015-2016 school years. The district has now decided to run classes for six hours starting with the 2016-2017 school year at both L'Anse Creuse High School and L'Anse Creuse High School North.
