The LRTA Class 1200 is a high-floor LRV of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) in Manila, Philippines, which began operation in 2007.

Overview

In order to enhance the transportation capacity of the Manila LRT line 1, 48 cars (12 formations) were produced from 2006 to 2007.[2] On December 9, Prime Minister Abe attended the handover ceremony of the 1200 series LRV and was began test-run with the former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Interior

The walls are white and the seats are green to match the landscape of Manila. The seat is made of fibre-reinforced plastic as before.

Drive unit

The bogie is of the inside frame type, the wheels are the same as the 1100 series, and maintainability is aimed. In addition, by adopting a two-stage reduction type drive system, it is possible to mount a large-capacity traction motor.

Traction control system is IGBT-VVVF type. Resistors are mounted on the roof for backup of regenerative brakes. The traction motor is a three-phase induction motor, totally closed to improve maintainability and high quietness.

The VVVF controller is supplied by Mitsubishi Electric, and the brake is supplied by Knorr-Bremse.

Other

The auxiliary power supply is output with AC 440V 80kVA.
