Leeds Met Law Society (LMULS), is the Law Society of the Leeds Law School, Leeds Metropolitan University, located in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England

Leeds Met Law Soicety Activities

The Leeds Met Law Society is accredited by the Leeds Met Students Union, and participates in activities to increase awareness of the Law Society, enhance members career prospects after graduation and help the local community.

Annual Mooting Competitions

The Leeds Met Law Society mooting competition is organised by the LMU Law Society and LMU Staff. Its purpose is to expand and stimulate student interest in advocacy, as well as improve research skills and public speaking. Participants will have the opportunity to further develop their expertise of legal concepts and speak in front of a Judge.

The internal mooting competition is held in the LMU Courtroom at Cloth Hall Court. The use of the court room is specifically for mooting, and the room acts as a fictitious Appeal Court.

The LMU internal mooting competition is only open to LMU students, and applications are accepted at the beginning of October.

Pro Bono work

LMU Law Society members work with external organisations. Some of the organisations can be found on their website in the pro bono section, and an overview of what to expect when volunteering can also be found. Generally the volunteering activities the Law Society participate with include the provision of legal services, advice, research and training. Usually, this is with charities, schools and legal advice centres such as the Citizens Advice Bureau. The Leeds Met Law Society Pro Bono team provide a range of volunteering opportunities which all have the underlying element of the volunteer utilising their legal skills for the good of the community.
