Leigh Academies Trust is a multi-academy trust, formed of 23 schools based in the Kent, Medway and South East London areas. Its Head Office is on the same site as Strood Academy, housing its Executive Team and central teams including Finance, Business, Marketing HR, Engagement and IT[1].
The Trust is involved in a number of non-traditional areas, such as engaging with local business[2] and raising money through various activities such as an annual cricket event[3].
History
Leigh Academies Trust was formed in 2008, linking the Leigh Academy and Longfield Academy, under a single governing body with Frank Green MBE as Chief Executive. In November 2013 Simon Beamish was appointed as Chief Executive, replacing Frank Green who was appointed National Schools Commissioner by the Department for Education[4].
Over the next ten years the Trust has grown steadily until January 2019 when the Trust merged with The Williamson Trust[5], absorbing 5 additional schools at once.
