Liberation Square (Arabic: ساحة التحرير) is located in central Baghdad. The square commemorates the 1958 establishment of the Republic of Iraq and is a major monument in the country’s history. Liberation Square is Baghdad's biggest and most central square located in the Rasafa part of the city on the eastern banks of the River Tigris.
