Lightspeed Systems is a company that sells content-control, network management, classroom management, and cyber security tools for K–12 schools.

Overview

Founded in 1999 in Bakersfield, California, Lightspeed Systems, Inc., develops content filtering, network security, mobile device management, and classroom management solutions for the education market. It is currently based in Austin, Texas.

Lightspeed maintains a workforce of around 120 employees. Its revenue for 2011 was $17.6 million, 2010 was $16.3 million, 2008 was $7.1 million, and for 2007 it was $7.1 million. It is ranked #1855 in its industry (software).[1]

Web Filter

Lightspeed uses a filtering system, automatically categorizing new webpages, with ones it has not yet categorized blacklisted in case of new proxies being created. Lightspeed's filter database is fully publicly disclosed, with Wikipedia being listed as a forum/blog.
