Ulysses Simpson Grant "Lil" Stoner (February 28, 1899 – June 26, 1966) born in Bowie, Texas was a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (1922 and 1924–1929), Pittsburgh Pirates (1930) and Philadelphia Phillies (1931).

He was an avid grower of irises and was an accredited Judge of the American Iris Society. Source: Bulletin of the American Iris Society, Number 183, October 1966, Page 94.

He died in Enid, Oklahoma at the age of 67.
