Template:Chinese name Jian Liu (simplified Chinese: 刘健; traditional Chinese: 劉健; pinyin: Liú Jiàn; born 20 August 1984) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays for Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League.

Club career

Liu Jian started his football career at Qingdao Jonoon in the 2004 season and he made debut against Sichuan Guancheng in a 1-1 draw on 19 September 2004.[1] Gradually establishing himself within the squad during the season, he would eventually play in ten league games for Qingdao and would even score his first goal against Sichuan in another 1-1 draw on 4 December 2004. The following season he would immediately establish himself as a regular for the majority of the 2005 season.[2] He then became an integral player for his club in the league where he was deployed as an attacking midfielder on many occasions.

On 3 January 2014, Liu transferred to fellow Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande.[3] After months of contract and transfer problems between Qingdao and Guangzhou, Liu was finally cleared to play and made his debut for the club on 19 April 2014 in a 2-1 win against Shanghai Greenland.

International career

In 2007, Liu made his debut for the Chinese national team during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification, scoring his first goal in a 7-0 win against Myanmar.[4]
