Ludwig G. Kempe was born October 16, 1915 in Prenzlau, Germany. He died June 22, 2012 in his home in the Pisgah National Forest, the scenic mountains of North Carolina.
He was an author of books in the field of neurosurgery[2] and ornithology[3] Along with Russell Blaylock, Kempe published a novel transcallosal approach to excising intraventricular meningiomas of the trigone,[4][5] as well as developing the ventriculolymphatic shunt in the treatment of hydrocephalus.[6]
