Good Spirits

In 2002, Mac began to offer Good Spirits "make-overs" [3] to communities. Make-overs are free and designed to teach men and women, including transgender people, living with HIV/AIDS make-up skills that can make them look and feel better. Professional Mac artist's demonstrate techniques that can essentially decrease the appearance of physical problems that may occur from medicine and treatment for HIV/AIDS.

Media

Mac has brought several celebrity endorsers to the team. The following recording artist and public figures have debuted in ad campaigns for Mac.

In 2001 Elton John and his own Elton John AIDS Foundation[4] partnered with Mac AIDS Fund. Two years later Shirley Manson, Elton John and Mary J. Blige were named the new spokespeople for Viva Glam IV lipstick.[5] RuPaul and rap artist Eve are just a few of celebrities that are a part of the Viva Glam campaign.

Mary J. Blige in 2000 she was named spokesperson for Viva Glam III Lipstick alongside Rap Artist Lil' Kim.[6]

In 2004, Christina Aguilera, Pamela Anderson,[7] Missy Elliott, Linda Evangelista, Chloë Sevigny and Boy George were named the spokespeople for Viva Glam V.[8] The idea was to include a very diverse group of individuals that fit Mac's motto "all ages, all races, all sexes".

Shirley Manson, was chosen for several reasons stated in an interview with Mac Cosmetics President John Demsey.[9] Creativity, presence and dedication to the fund were just a few of the attributes she brought to the campaign.

Fergie[10] appears on several magazine spreads for Viva Glam. She took another path by becoming the Mac's spokesperson for the global youth prevention initiative.[11]

The new spring 2010 spokeswomen include Cyndi Lauper[12] who poses alongside Lady Gaga[13] by endorsing Viva Glam VI.[14] They also hope to add awareness to issues women face with HIV/AIDS.

The 2012 Viva Glam spokespeople were Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin, who is the first Latin American man to be asked to be a part of Viva Glam. They have both created their own cosmetics, Nicki's being a light pink lipstick and Ricky's being a lip conditioner. They have worked diligently to help HIV/AIDS. Due to Nicki Minaj's Viva Glam Nicki becoming the best selling Viva Glam lipstick of all time, Minaj was invited back in 2013 to front the campaign solo.[15]
