Ontisalaga Madakari Nayaka or Madakari Nayaka V was the greatest and the last ruler of Chitradurga, and belonged to Nayaka community in Chitradurga, Karnataka India. Also gain a title of Eppataru palegarara Ganda(ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತಾರು ಪಾಳೇಗಾರರ ಗಂಡ Superior ruler over 76 palegara's) by Peshwa Madhavrao I after helped to win Nijagallu Fort.

Rise and Early life[edit]

After Kasturi Rangappa Nayaka II dies in 1754 without an heir, 12-year-old Madakari Nayaka, son of Bharamappa Nayaka of Jaanakalludurga (a small fort town close to Chitradurga), is named his successor and ascends to the throne. Madakari Nayaka soon faces challenges from neighbouring enemies of Chitradurga such as Rayadurga and Harpanahalli, whose rulers have long eyed this fort and try to take advantage of Madakari's youth and relative inexperience and defeat him in battle. However, young Madakari is up to the challenge and leads his forces successfully against the would-be usurpers. Soon, he establishes himself as a kind ruler of his subjects and iron-fisted vanquisher of his enemies.[1]

[2] During the reign of Madakari Nayaka, the city of Chitradurga was besieged by the troops of Hyder Ali, during the siege of Mysore.

Relationship with Other States[edit]

Harapanahalli and Rayadurga Palegara's are common enemies of Chitradurga provision from the date of established. Initially there were good with Peshwa and after some dramatic incidents made strong relationship between them. But continuous political instability in Pune, they were helpless during last days of Palegara's. Chitradurga administration always wants peace relationships with Kingdom of Mysore because they were very nearer them considered to Pune. Hyder Ali takes help of Madakari Nayaka to expands his state borders in north. Hyder Ali afraid courageous act of Madakari Nayaka during many Conflict. Barbaric and ruthless massacre after a victory in other States by Hyder Ali made to hesitate to Madakari Nayaka. When Hyder Ali send spies to chitradurga and some treaties cause cold war between them. Surrounding small province maintaince good relationship with Palegara's.
