Maiviken

Maiviken is a cove at the north end of Thatcher Peninsula between Cumberland West Bay and Cumberland East Bay, South Georgia. It was charted by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition, 1901–04, under Otto Nordenskjöld, and named "Majviken" (May Cove) after May Day, 1902, the day on which the cove was entered. Over the years, the Norwegian spelling Maiviken has become established for the cove.[1]
