Mamnoon Hussain (Urdu: ممنون حسین; b. 2 March 1940, Agra India), is a textile businessman,[1][2] senior figure of Pakistan Muslim League, and the current President-elect of Pakistan.

He also tenured as the 27th Governor of Sindh for a very short period when his appointment was dismissed by a military coup d'état in 1999. He was elected as the 12th President of Pakistan on July 30th 2013.

Personal life

Mamnoon Hussain was born on 2 March 1940 in Agra, into an Urdu-speaking industrialist family.[3] His family settled in Karachi, Sindh after the independence of Pakistan in 1947 and established the textile factory in Karachi. After graduating from a local high school in Karachi, he was admitted at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi in 1960.[4]

Political career

Mamnoon Hussain was elected as 12th President of Pakistan as the official nominee of the PML-N in the 2013 Presidential Elections.[5]
