Manisha Singh is an American attorney and government official who currently serves as Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs. She is the first woman to serve in the role.
Career
Previously, Singh served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Economic, Energy and Business Affairs. She has served as a senior aide to members of Congress and as Deputy Chief Counsel to the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. Her private sector experience includes practicing law at multinational law firms and working in-house at an investment bank. She was also the Senior Fellow for International and Economic Affairs at the American Foreign Policy Council as well as a team member at the Council on Foreign Relations.[1][2]
In July 2018, she appeared before the Foreign Relations Committee, which questioned her about trade policy.[3][4]
