Marx's Theory of Ideology is a 1982 book about Karl Marx by political theorist Bhikhu Parekh. The work was inspired by Parekh's experience of racial discrimination in British society.[1]

Summary

Parekh argues that Marx's reductionist account of politics lacks the resources to provide a coherent political philosophy.[1]

Scholarly reception

Political theorist Terrell Carver, writing in an appendix to the 1995 edition of Karl Marx: His Life and Environment, calls Parekh's book a classic exposition of the Marxist theory of ideology.[2]
