Megan (stylized as M3GAN or MΞGAN) is an upcoming American science fiction horror film directed by Gerard Johnstone from a screenplay by Akela Cooper and a story by Cooper and James Wan. It stars Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Amie Donald, Ronny Chieng, and Brian Jordan Alvarez.[1][2][3] It is produced by Jason Blum and James Wan under their Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster Productions banners, respectively, alongside Divide/Conquer.
Megan is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States by Universal Pictures on January 13, 2023.[4]
Premise
The story follows Gemma (Allison Williams), a brilliant roboticist at a toy company who uses artificial intelligence to develop the Model 3 Generative Android (M3GAN), a life-like doll programmed to be a child's greatest companion and a parent's greatest ally. After unexpectedly gaining custody of her orphaned niece Katie, Gemma enlists the help of the M3GAN prototype – a decision that has horrific consequences.

Filming
Principal photography began on July 5, 2021.[5]
Marketing
The first standee for the film was unveiled at the 2022 CinemaCon, before being released online.[6] The trailer for the film was released on Universal Pictures' YouTube channel on October 11, 2022.[7]

Theatrical
Megan is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States by Universal on January 13, 2023.[8]
