Michael "Mick" Murphy (born 1918) is an Irish hurler who played as a right wing-back for the Tipperary and Clare senior teams.[1]

Born in Kilmaley, County Clare, Murphy first excelled at hurling in his youth. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-five when he first linked up with the Tipperary senior team. He made his debut during the 1943 championship. Murphy became a regular member of the team over the next few years and won one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal. He later lined out with Clare.

At club level Murphy is a four-time championship medallist played with Thurles Sarsfields. He also played for a host of other clubs including Kilmaley, Clarecastle and Faughs.

His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1949 championship.

Murphy is one of the oldest living All-Ireland medallists.[2]
