Template:Geobox Morrison is a city in Whiteside County, Illinois, United States. The population was 4,447 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Whiteside CountyTemplate:GR.

In mid-November 2008, the town's Open Bible Fellowship Church gained national media attention after former pastor Ted Haggard delivered two confessional sermons there.[1]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.1 square miles (5.5 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 4,447 people, 1,787 households, and 1,170 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,077.5 people per square mile (802.3/km²). There were 1,898 housing units at an average density of 886.7/sq mi (342.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.64% White, 0.72% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.52% from other races, and 0.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.36% of the population.

There were 1,787 households out of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.6% were married couples living together, 9.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% were non-families. 30.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.83.

In the city the population was spread out with 21.4% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $40,313, and the median income for a family was $50,664. Males had a median income of $35,651 versus $21,992 for females. The per capita income for the city was $20,179. About 3.2% of families and 6.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.7% of those under age 18 and 1.6% of those age 65 or over.
