"My Religion"
Song

"My Religion" is the debut single co-written by Ryan Starr, was released on iTunes as an exclusive single in September, 2004. As reported by USA Today, "My Religion" was one of iTunes' highest-selling exclusive singles, with an estimated 360,000 units sold. In an interview given to MTV, Starr confirmed that the single had sold at least 360,000 units, and over 130,000 units sold in its first week.[1] The number of sales is particularly remarkable as the single had no promotion on iTunes. Although popular, "My Religion" was not released on any other form of media including CD. Mirroring the single's success on iTunes, "My Religion" reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Digital Songs. The singer and co-writer, Ryan Starr, has yet to release an album. "My Religion", along with "Stranded" and "Love Gone Bad", was performed on Starr's tour, which started July 15 in Memphis.

Awards

The 2005 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records noted that Ryan Starr had sold the most exclusive-single downloads in iTunes' history. Although "My Religion" was slated to be available in stores in early 2006, iTunes refused to release Ryan Starr's single from contract.[1]
