Mya Taylor (born Jeremiah James Bonner on March 28, 1991, in Houston, Texas[1]) is an American transgender actress and singer.

Career

Taylor is best known for her roles as Alexandra in Sean Baker's 2015 film Tangerine.[2][3] She played Marsha P. Johnson in Reina Gosset and Sasha Wortzel's 2016 film Happy Birthday, Marsha![4] She is also in the upcoming short film, Diane from the Moon. Duplass Brothers Productions and Magnolia Pictures launched an Academy Awards campaign in 2015 to get her and her Tangerine co-star Kitana Kiki Rodriguez nominated as the first trans actresses to be nominated for Best Actress.[5]

Personal life

When not in Hollywood, she lives in North Dakota with her husband, James.[6]
