NCT 127 (stylized as NCT #127) is the debut extended play by NCT 127, the Seoul-based sub-unit of South Korean boy band NCT. It was released digitally on July 10, 2016[1] and physically on July 11. The EP consists of seven tracks including the title track, "Fire Truck".

Background and promotion

On June 30, 2016, it was announced that NCT would return with a second sub-unit named NCT 127, with the number 127 referring to the longitude of Seoul. NCT 127 comprises four members from the previous sub-unit NCT U (Taeyong, Jaehyun, Taeil, and Mark), and three new members (Yuta, Haechan, and WinWin).[2]

The group debuted on July 7, 2016, with the music video for their debut single "Fire Truck" set for release at midnight KST but postponed till noon the same day.[3] NCT 127 performed "Fire Truck" and the B-side track "Once Again" for their debut stage on M! Countdown on July 7.[4]

The EP was digitally released on July 10, and physically released on July 11.[3] The EP includes the bonus track "Switch", which was previously performed by the members in the SM Rookies Show in 2015. The song, as well as its music video, was recorded in 2015, and was belatedly released on December 20, 2016. The song features members from the 127, U and Dream sub-units as well as former SM Rookie member Hansol.[5]

Concept

The album contained various genres such as hip-top, trap and Moombahton ("Firetruck"); retro ("Once Again"), electropop ("Wake Up", "Another World") and "dance-pop" ("Paradise").[3][6]
