Nichola Hope and Sarah Hope are Welsh identical twins and artists known for their visual artwork documenting the Welsh National Opera and live performances.[3][4] Nichola was awarded the RK Burt Painting Prize in 1998 and had been selected for Wales Portrait I and II, Welsh Artist of the Year in 2006[5] and the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art. Sarah was awarded Joint second prize winner of the Llanfairpwll Big Draw and was shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2007.[6] Collectively they have worked on international projects with Monte Carlo Opera, Melbourne Opera, Tasmanian Storytelling Festival, Los Angeles St. David's Day Festival[7] to name a few.[8] Together they appear as Arts Editors for the internationally distributed Celtic Family Magazine[9] and have featured in a number of publications.[10]

Early life

Nichola and Sarah Hope were born in Cardiff, Wales in 1975 and currently reside in Vale of Glamorgan. The twins are of Welsh and Irish descent, and studied at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf.[11] The twins' use of pen, ink, and charcoal is notably recognized, while Nichola also has a distinct use of collage and silhouettes in her work, and Sarah specializes in sight size drawings[clarification needed] working from pottery casts and has furthered this study at Lack Atelier in Minnesota.
