Nikolija Jovanović (Serbian Cyrillic: Николија Јовановић, born on 19 October 1989) is a Serbian singer and dancer. Born in Zagreb, former Yugoslavia and raised in Belgrade, she initially rose to fame as the daughter of the folk music icon Vesna Zmijanac. Nikolija embarked on a professional music career in 2013 and established herself among the biggest club performers on the Balkans. She is also a recognised style icon, referring to her appearances in music videos and on stage.
Life and career
Early life
Nikolija Jovanović was born to Vesna Zmijanac, a Serbian folk singer, and Vlada Jovanović, a Serbian economist and former marketing chief at PGP RTS. Being only 6 years old, she starred in her mother's music video for the song Kad bih znala kako si. In primary school she won 'Zlatna sirena' award for the best voice in the town region, admitted to compete just so she could skip school. Then as a teenager she'd evinced an inclination for singing, but at her father's request Nikolija moved to Athens, Greece where she got a degree in International Business at the American Deree College.[1] In 2009 she was a contestant on Survivor Srbija VIP: Philippines along side her mother.
Career
Nikolija started her career as a dancer in Greek nightclubs during the studies and there she even performed next to Tiësto, Swedish House Mafia and Armin van Buuren among others. In 2011, she released her first song Crazy 2 night with DJ Kas as "Nicole", but failed to achieve success on the Greek market. Around that, in Serbia she had a bad reputation of spoiled famous daughter and was described as famous for being famous.
I recorded a song in English, but the label has given up. Maybe I would be successful if I had the voice of Marija Šerifovic, her voice and my looks.

After the studies, she moved back to Serbia in 2013 to pursue her career there. Soon after, she started her collaboration with Atelje Trag by recording her first single "Ćao zdravo" (Bye, Bye) featuring MC Teča Gambino. Same year Nikolija also participated in Serbian version of Dancing with the Stars, released one more solo song and was featured on the lead single "Milion dolara" (Million Dollars) for Ana Nikolić's fourth album.[3] The following years Nikolija continued recording singles, most knowably "Alkohola litar" (Liter of Alcohol) featuring Elitni odredi and DJ Mladja and "Opasna igra" (Dangerous Game), released on 31 August 2014 and 4 May 2015 respectively.[4] Those songs she combined into her debut album, titled №1, which was released on 20 October 2016 under City Records.[5] Her album tour started in December and she successfully performed in night clubs across the Balkans and the rest of Europe.[6]
In 2017 Nikolija started working on her second upcoming album and released hits like "Loš momak" (Bad Boy) on 21 July 2017 and "Nema limita" (No Limit) on 14 May 2018 among other singles.[7][8][9][10] She was also given a minor movie role in Volja sinovljeva, which was presented as a revolution in Serbian cinematography.
Personal life
She started dating singer Relja Popović, former member of Elitni Odredi duo, while they were working on the track Alkohola litar.[11] The couple has a daughter named Rea, born 26 September 2016,[12] and is not planning on getting married. Jovanović currently resides in Vračar, downtown Belgrade with her family.
