Introduced in 1994 the N70 (F70 in Europe) was a mid-price, almost state of the art performing camera with many electronic functions. It's still a modern SLR, strong, sturdy, Very ergonomic; perfect size and weight (just 21 ounces); solid and durable polycarbonate body. |

For the advanced amateur this camera is terrific. It is packed with features. Accurate metering, fast & accurate focusing, built-in speedlight, date imprinting, backwards compatibility on lenses/accessories. |

The N70/F70 has received criticism due to its graphic User Interface. In my opinion the interface is quite good, just by looking at the oft condemned 'fan' shaped display you can immediately know what settings have been applied. It also has the 'quick recall' function, which allows you to program a set of custom functions. I use this to instantly change the settings when I switch my AF to MF lenses without wasting any time. Example: when I mount a MF lens I need to change matrix metering to center weighted, and switch Program to Aperture priority. These settings are saved as Quick recall #2 setting, and I just select this. |

In many ways the N70 is Superior to the N80. The AF is faster than the N80 and the Flash is Stronger and the results with or without flash are really excellent. High speed goes up to 3.7 pic/sec. This is also faster than the N80. Ok, there is no light, no DOF, no multiple exposure, I know. The N80 has all of it, but if what you need is a reliable AF and a dead on exposure, also when using flash. The N70 has it, and has the ability to use older MF lenses. |

I wish it had DOF preview and Multiple Exposure although there is a work-around for both But overall, this is a rugged camera with great metering and autofocus. The N70 is NOT made by a third party manufacturer, unlike many other Nikon’s It is made by Nikon in Japan. |

The Nikon F70 (or N70 as it is known in the U.S.) is an SLR camera manufactured by the Japanese Company Nikon. It is the predecessor to the Nikon F80.
