Nikon has manufactured 10 different zoom lenses with a focal-length range of 70 to 200 mm range.

  • f/2.8D IF-ED AF-S - Nikon first announced the development of the AF-S VR Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF in February 2002, with the lens becoming available for purchase in April 2003. This lens was optically matched with then new DX format as this was the leading lens format of the time.[1]
  • f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR II - This version was first announced in July 2009. It brings an entirely redesigned optical system, designed to better compliment full-frame cameras. It includes an improved vibration reduction system, which Nikon claims offers up to four stops stabilization.[2]
