Nitya Mehra is a Bollywood film director and screenwriter. After working in television and as assistant director in films like Ang Lee's Life of Pi and Mira Nair's The Namesake,[2][3] and The Reluctant Fundamentalist,[1] she made her directorial debut with Eros Now's romantic drama Baar Baar Dekho.[4]

Mehra was born in Amritsar into a Punjabi family. Her mother was a fashion designer. She was schooled at the Welham Girls School, Dehradun.[1][5]
