Nomanisan Island
Nomanisan can refer to four islands—one real (but now a peninsula), three fictional. All four islands were named as intentional puns on the famous quote by John Donne, "No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe." [sic]
- The "original" Nomanisan was an island in Lake Kittamaqundi in downtown Columbia, Maryland, located along the Town Center lakefront. The island was named by Columbia resident Alan Levine in a 1980 contest held by the Columbia Association.[1][2] The island was connected to the shore of the lake in 2011, creating a peninsula.[3]
- Nomanisan is a fictional island in the 2004 Pixar film The Incredibles.
- It is also a fictional island in Mathnet's Trial of George Frankly.
- A slight variation, Nomansan, is used for an island in Trenton Lee Stewart's novel The Mysterious Benedict Society.
